Seaweed Foraging at Muckross Beach

Rosaria Piseri of Algaran will lead a guided seaweed foraging session on Muckross Beach on Saturday June 16th. We meet at 2.30 at the Old School Car Park, Carrick. A free return bus will travel to and from there to Muckross. (Parking is limited at Muckross so it is advisable to avail of the bus.) The walk is organised by the Donegal Association of An Taisce.

Producing food and healthy products from seaweed is an almost forgotten part of our culture. Rosaria is very experienced at seaweed foraging. She is a very entertaining expert. The day combines fun with interest. We will have an opportunity to visit the Algaran factory at Malinmore Glencolmcille to see the organic cosmetics, spa and hair care products, and foods produced from seaweed. Algaran guarantees with full documentation that their seaweed is only Irish and local and that it does not contain heavy metals. In addition, its processing temperatures never exceed 30 degrees C in order to preserve all of the goodness of the freshly harvested seaweed.

Wear wellingtons or other waterproof footwear on the walk  – the seaweed will be wet even though the tide is out.  There is no need to book. No dogs (except Guide Dogs) please. Suitable for all age groups. Everyone Welcome –

Cost – Free.
