#BuyDonegal is back for 2021

After a hugely successful 2020 campaign, #BuyDonegal is back for 2021 to showcase the best of Donegal business. There are over 300 businesses involved in the campaign this year, which aims to highlight the exciting and innovative range of products and services available in the county.

#BuyDonegal runs from November 5th – December 31st 2021.

Speaking about the campaign, Cllr Jack Murray, Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council said: “The #BuyDonegal initiative provides a huge platform for Donegal businesses to highlight their genuine craft, innovation and appeal across a range of industries. We saw a huge response from both businesses and the public in collectively promoting enterprise in the county last year, and 2021 is already generating an even greater interest in the campaign.”

The #BuyDonegal initiative supports a range of enterprises such as food and drink producers, designers and makers, tourism providers and retailers.

Products can be bought through company websites, physically in store or both, depending on the nature of the brand. The initiative is not meant for only those who live in Donegal, but to encourage people from Donegal near and far, to support the campaign and Donegal businesses by simply buying a Donegal product or service and sharing an image on social media using the hashtag #BuyDonegal or, as Gaeilge, #CeannaighDúnnanGall.

“Last year’s #BuyDonegal campaign provided such a boost to the Donegal business community thanks to over 250 businesses getting involved. It provided a positive message to both the people of Donegal and our Diaspora, which was fantastic to see”, said Garry Martin, Director of Economic Development and Information Systems at Donegal County Council.

With the majority of retailers now online, the #BuyDonegal campaign is the perfect excuse to send a piece of Donegal to those further afield, or, for the Diaspora to order something made in Donegal to their doorstep wherever they are in the world.

The #BuyDonegal campaign, developed by Donegal County Council, will run from Friday November 5th right up until the end of December – providing consumers with a great opportunity to buy a unique Donegal gift in time for Christmas while also supporting the local economy. Stay up to date with the campaign by following #BuyDonegal on social media.
