Teagasc Food Courses

Teagasc has two new virtual training courses running before the end of 2020 that might be of interest to Food Coast members, as follows:
Butchering of Beef, Pork and Lamb

This popular virtual workshop is delivered using a mix of talks, videos and question and answer sessions. Master butcher Dave Lang has many years of experience in the practicalities of butchering and teaching butchery skills. He will bring you though the process of breaking down beef, pork and lamb into the various retail cuts that are of interest to consumers.

This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in finding out what the main cuts of meat are, including chefs and restaurant owners who would like a better understanding of the potential uses of the various cuts of meats and an overview of pricing models for beef, pork and lamb.

This interactive virtual training workshop takes place on the 25th November 2020 (9.30am – 12.30pm and 2pm – 4pm) and the fee for this event is €200 per participant.

Introduction to the Manufacture of Chocolate & Chocolate Confectionary

Join Teagasc’s New Product Development and Sensory experts for a half-day workshop to discover the wonder of Chocolate, where they will bring you through the chocolate journey, from start to finish. This virtual course will be delivered using a mix of talks, videos and question and answer sessions. The course is suitable for anyone with an interest in finding out how chocolate is made, including artisan producers who have recently started or are considering their chocolate production journey.

This interactive virtual training workshop takes place on December 2nd (9.30- 12.30). The fee for this event is €100per participant. Up to 40% discount is available on both courses for eligible businesses or sole traders from The Rural Food Skillnet.
